Mayor Eric Adams announced Friday that he has secured a coveted endorsement from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, vowing to make New York the “Mecca of America” and referring to himself as the “Allah of New York.”
“I’m here to reclaim the faith!” Adams declared, wearing a fez and holding up a MetroCard blessed by a visiting imam.
President Erdoğan, appearing via satellite, praised Adams’ “unmatched devotion to both Islam and New York real estate values.”
Adams further promised a new holiday, “Eid al-Ferry,” during which all Staten Island Ferry rides will be free for anyone who can recite the entire Qur’an or, failing that, just name three types of hummus.
